The challenges that Member countries face in preparing and implementing measures for adaptation to climate change and disaster risk reduction are addressed in different European through different legal frameworks. Namely GREEN will contribute to the implementation of some important priorities identified as part of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Warsaw Loss and Damage Mechanism and the Biodiversity Strategy.
Besides the importance of the formal legal framework, GREEN will demonstrate the sustainable implementation if these measures in the member states through the involvement of local stakeholders. In this context the project will include an assessment of the most important regulatory barriers and enablers that contribute to the sustainable and successful implementation of green infrastructures. GREEN will explore incentives, financial mechanisms and policies that can enhance green infrastructures uptake.
This work will also produce feedbacks on the monitoring techniques of green infrastructures in the context of climate change mitigation.
